The boundaries of Mahbubnagar are Guntur district to
East, Yadgir district to West, Ranga reddy district to North, Kurnool district
to South, Nalgoda and Gulbara district of Karnataka are located on North-east
and North-west, Prakasam district and Raichur districts are located on
South-east and South-west. According to 2011 census, the district is the 7th
largest in terms of area that occupies about 18,432 sq.km.
Divisions
There are Two revenue divisions in Mahbubnagar
namely Mahbubnagar and Narayanpet. Each divison is divided into Mandals. There
are 21 mandals in the district. Ronald Rose is the collector to the district.
Economy
The district is listed as one of the 250 backward
districts in the country. So Mahabubnagar receives funds from BRGF (Backward
Regions Grant Fund) Programme. The district was famous for Golconda diamonds.
Agriculture is also Major occupation that consists Paddy, Groundnut, Castor,
Jawar and Cotton. The rivers Krishna and Thungabhadra flows through the district
that helps for irrigation.
