The boundaries of Khammam are East godavari district
to East, Warangal district to West, Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh to
North, Krishna district to South. According to 2011 census, the district
consists of 13,89,566 population and occupies an area about 4,360 sq.km. The
river Munneru flows on western side of Khammam.
Divisions
There are Two revenue divisions in Khammam namely
Khammam and Kallur. Each divison is divided into Mandals. There are 21 mandals
in the district. Lokesh kumar is the collector of the district.
Economy
Khammam district contains rich amount of minerals
Iron ore, Dolomite, Barytes, Copper, Quartz, Coal and Graphite. The district
contains IT, Infrastructure sectors, Agro based industries, Pharmaceuticals,
Mineral based industries, Horticulture etc. The district also exports large
amount of Granite products like Tiles, Slabs, Granite cutting and polishing
tools. The district is also in the list of 250 backward districts, so the
district receives funds from BRGF Programme.
