The boundaries of Bhadradri Kothagudem are East godavari district to East, Mahabubabad district to West, Bijapur and Sukma are the districts of Chattisgarh Bounded to North and North-east, West godavari and Khammam districts bounded to South and South-east, Jayashankar district to North-west. According to 2011 census, the district consists of 1,304,811 population and occupies an area about 8,951 sq.km.

There are Two revenue divisions in Bhadradri Kothagudem namely Kothagudem and Bhadrachalam. Each divison is divided into Mandals. There are 24 mandals in the district. Rajiv Gandhi Hanumanthu is the collector of  district.
