The boundaries of Jagtial district are Komaram Bheem district to East, Nizamabad district to West, Nirmal district to North, Mancherial district to North-east, Karimnagar district to South, Peddapalli district to South-west. According to 2011 census, the district consists of 983,414 population and occupies an area about 3,043.23 sq.km.

Divisions

There are Two revenue divisions in Jagtial namely Metpally and Jagtial. Each divison is divided into Mandals. There are 18 mandals in the district. Jagtial Municipality was formed in 1952. The literacy rate of Jagtial is 78.61%. A.Sharath is the collector to the district.

Jagtial fort built by the advice of Jack and Tail french engineers in 1747, Pedhagudi, Sri Saraswati Shishu mandir, Pochamma temple, Markandeya temple, Sai baba temple, Jagtial district contains Agriculture University, which is a place for developing new varities of Paddy seeds.
